Hi, I’m Robert.
I'm the owner of Taproot Acupuncture. I am licensed by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice and hold NCCAOM certification in acupuncture and herbal medicine. After receiving my master’s degree in acupuncture and East Asian medicine, I spent one and a half years in China, studying and practicing at various busy hospitals. This experience gave me the incredible opportunity to practice acupuncture in a setting that seamlessly blends Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Western biomedicine, treating patients suffering with conditions ranging from back pain, to shingles, to obesity, to stroke-related paralysis. One of the most significant things that I learned while there was how to handle acupuncture needles with acute precision and intention, treating each area and condition in a unique and purposeful way.
Prior to my experience in China, I was an intern at a number of clinics serving low-income families, the Aliveness Project, and multiple local hospitals, including the Joint Replacement Center at Abbott Northwestern. My approach to healthcare is rooted in the time-tested paradigm of TCM but informed and enhanced by a thorough understanding of modern anatomy, physiology, and pathology. This gives me the ability to detect and treat conditions ranging from subtle and chronic emotional variation to severe and acute tissue damage. As a practitioner, I am passionate about working together with my patients and the rest of their wellness team to help them achieve a healthy lifestyle.
In my free time, I can be found exploring the Twin Cities for new and interesting restaurants, playing board games with friends, and cooking authentic Chinese dishes that I miss from my time in China. However, what I like best is to be with my wife and two kids, Harrison and Juniper. We spend a lot of time outside… fighting bad guys, mostly!
